The Serrano Youth Soccer League (SYSL) is committed to creating a safe, positive, and respectful environment for players, coaches, referees, and fans. All spectators are expected to follow this code of conduct during practices, games, and league events:
Support Positively: Cheer for all players and teams. Avoid negative comments, insults, or disruptive behavior.
Respect Officials: Referees are essential to the game. Accept their decisions gracefully and encourage players to do the same.
Promote Fair Play: Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect among all participants.
Model Good Behavior: Demonstrate respect, patience, and self-control. Avoid yelling, arguing, or confrontational behavior.
Follow Rules and Policies: Adhere to SYSL guidelines and any facility or park regulations.
Focus on Development and Fun: Remember that youth sports are about learning, growth, and enjoyment, not just winning.
Consequences: Failure to adhere to this code may result in warnings, removal from games or league events, or further action as determined by SYSL officials.
SYSL players are expected to represent themselves, their teams, and their communities with integrity, respect, and good sportsmanship at all times. Participation in this league is a privilege, not a right. By joining SYSL, each player agrees to follow these standards:
Treat all players, coaches, referees, and spectators with respect — regardless of the game’s outcome.
Shake hands with opponents and officials after each match.
Accept decisions made by referees and officials without argument, even when you disagree.
Arrive on time for all practices, games, and team events.
Notify your coach in advance if you will be late or absent.
Always give your best effort during practices and games.
Encourage teammates and avoid negative comments or behavior.
Do not use inappropriate language, gestures, or actions toward anyone.
Show humility in victory and grace in defeat.
Follow all SYSL and team rules, including uniform and equipment guidelines.
Play fairly and safely — no rough play, taunting, or unsporting conduct.
Take care of league fields, facilities, and equipment.
Be honest and trustworthy in all interactions.
Refrain from the use of drugs, alcohol, vaping, or tobacco at any league activity.
Represent your team, coaches, and the league with pride both on and off the field.
Players who violate this Code may face disciplinary action, including verbal warnings, game suspensions, or removal from the league, depending on the severity of the behavior.
SYSL’s mission is to create a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for every player. By following this Code of Conduct, each player helps ensure that soccer remains a respectful and enjoyable experience for all.
